About

The Maurice Washington Emerging Leaders Program (MWELP) is a two-semester program designed for first-year, second-year, and transfer students to develop effective leadership, career readiness, and financial literacy. This program focuses on preparing students to succeed and contribute to the Morehouse College community as student leaders by creating a foundational framework in their first two years at the college.

This year-long program aims to engage students in college orientation and identify pathways to leadership while allowing students to develop comprehensive career development plans.

About Dean Maurice Washington

Dean Maurice Washington joined the Morehouse Family in 2007. He served in various capacities throughout his tenure at Morehouse including Director of Housing and ResidentialLife, Associate Dean of Student Services, Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, and Vice President for Student Services.  We thank hi for his immeasurable service and commitment to the college and community. Dean Washington was the embodiment of a Morehouse man, well-balanced, well-read, well-spoken, well-travelled, and well-dressed. His memory and legacy will forever be cherished by the Morehouse College family.
